Best win chance on Stake dice: odds vs payout compared

By the StakeDices team · Updated

There is no win chance on Stake dice with a better expected return: all of them carry the same 1% house edge. The best win chance is the one whose losing streaks your bankroll and progression can handle. 49.5% is the most popular because one win at 2x recovers a 100% martingale, but it is not automatically the safest.

Here is how the main options compare on what actually matters: how often you lose in a row and how fast the bet grows.

Low payout, high win chance

Above 90% you rarely lose, but a single loss costs dozens of wins, and recovering it in one roll needs an enormous increase on loss. These settings suit flat betting with tiny targets, not progressions.

The 49.5% middle ground

At 2x a 100% increase on loss recovers everything with one win, which keeps the logic simple. Losing streaks are frequent enough that sizing matters: a setup that can afford 13 bets in a row has about a 6.6% chance of hitting that streak within 1,000 rolls and about 50% within 10,000.

High payout, low win chance

At 3x and above the bet grows more slowly per loss (50% at 3x, 11.11% at 10x), but losing streaks get much longer. At 33%, a progression starting at 1/1,000 of the bankroll with a 50% increase can afford 15 bets, yet the chance of 15 losses in a row within 10,000 rolls is still over 99%. Slower growth does not mean lower risk.

How to choose

  1. Decide whether you will use a progression at all. Flat betting tolerates any win chance.
  2. If you use one, set the increase on loss to at least 100 ÷ (payout − 1).
  3. Run your numbers in the loss streak calculator and compare chances side by side.
  4. Pick the chance whose bust probability you accept for your planned number of rolls.

Frequently asked questions

What is the safest win chance on Stake dice?

None is safer in expected value; all have a 1% edge. For progressions, the safest setting is the one where your bankroll can afford the longest losing streak relative to how often that streak occurs. Compare them with the loss streak calculator.

Why do most strategies use 49.5%?

Because 2x payout makes a 100% increase on loss recover all previous losses with one win, and the streak lengths are predictable enough to plan bankroll around.

Is 98% win chance a good strategy?

It wins very often, but each loss costs about 98 wins. With any progression it requires extremely large increases, so it is usually used only for flat betting with very small targets.
